Guest Services Coordinator

The Guest Service Coordinator leads the frontline team primarily responsible for ensuring that every visitor’s experience at Wonderfeet Kids’ Museum meets or exceeds expectations. The Guest Service Coordinator is in charge of the smooth daily operations of the Museum, ensuring that our facility, policies, and procedures support an exemplary visitor experience. The GSC works to support open-ended, child-directed play experiences within the Museum’s exhibits. Includes management of staff including weekend supervisors, cash handling and supervisory/training role. Ideal Guest Service Coordinators are curious and playful people who enjoy working with folks of all ages and backgrounds and who thrive in a team setting! The Guest Service Coordinator needs to be computer literate, solution-centric, and outgoing.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Providing high-quality customer service to all Museum visitors

  • Be knowledgeable regarding all aspects of the Museum

  • Answer phone calls & emails, tend to customer inquiries, and direct calls/emails as needed

  • Keep office supplies, tee shirts and staff supplies stocked and in order, coordinate with and order from third party vendors as needed

  • Track admission data

  • Keep up to date Museum calendar: book groups, birthday parties, & volunteers

  • Provide assistance to the Executive Director and Museum Educator

  • Monitor various websites hours of operation, address, and reviews (Google, TripAdvisor, etc)

  • Handle cash, ensure sufficient change and submit deposits to the ED daily

  • Ensure the cleanliness of the Museum’s public areas by assisting staff with cleaning and ensuring all staff follow cleaning protocols

  • Ensure a safe visitor experience for all, including handling the Museum check-in process for visitors, cleaning exhibit surfaces, and enforcing Museum policies.

  • Keep visitors well-informed about Museum programs and activities

  • Assist with set-up, operation of, and occasional facilitation of birthday parties, events, public programs, and community events

  • Excellent communication skills, an ability to engage with both adult caregivers and children

 Qualifications:

  • Associate degree and 3-4 years’ work experience or bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years’ experience

  • Experience working in an informal educational setting or in early childhood education strongly preferred

  • Positive work-ethic, professional attitude, and willingness to learn. Openness to learning new content and skills outside area of experience and comfort zone

  • Ability to work well in a busy/changing environment (large/small crowds) and prioritize tasks

  • Ability to engage children and adults in a welcome, energetic, friendly, outgoing, and professional manner

  • Accurate keyboarding, data entry, cash register and cash handling skills.

  • Proficient in Google Doc (word/excel), Canva, and CRM systems a plus. Able to write and respond to professional communications.

  • Good safety awareness, judgment, and ability to assist visitors in emergent situations

  • Ability to go up and down stairs and infrequent lifting up to 35 pounds

  • CPR/AED/First Aid certified is a plus

  • Experience working with children and a commitment to children’s learning through play

 

AvailabilityPart-time (30-35 hours/week); May need to fill in on weekends occasionally.

Available daily shifts: Monday 9:30-12:30 and Tuesday-Friday 9:00AM – 4:30PM or an occasional afternoon evening or weekend day/s.

Pay/Salary: $20-$25/hr                   Includes: Paid Time Off & some holidays

Guest Services Staff

Wonderfeet Kids’ Museum is seeking an energetic, fun, and flexible individual who values the importance of creating lasting memories for children and families through hands-on, interactive and engaging experiences. The Guest Service Associate is responsible for maintaining a positive, welcoming and inclusive environment for all children and their caregivers to explore the power of play while engaging in hands-on experiences. The ideal candidate is comfortable interacting and initiating conversations with children and their caregivers, is approachable with a positive attitude. Members of the Guest Services team have the ability to adapt to changes based on Museum needs, are resourceful and able to anticipate needs or potential problems, use creative out-of-the box thinking to problem solve, and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment as well as to stay busy during quieter times. The Guest Services Associate is an important member of our team and plays a key role in staffing museum exhibits and maintaining exhibit cleanliness, safety, and accessibility, while supporting educational programs and events. Also supports admissions and membership but most importantly, promote the lifelong love of learning and fun.

General Responsibilities

• Providing high-quality customer service to all Museum visitors

• Following cleaning protocols to ensure a safe visitor experience for all, including but not limited to handling the Museum check-in process for visitors, cleaning exhibit surfaces, and enforcing Museum policies.

• Answering visitor questions/concerns

• Assisting visitors in exhibits and programs

• Supporting the operation and staffing of the Admission Desk

• Keeping visitors well-informed about Museum programs and activities in person and over the phone

• Assisting with opening and closing of Museum exhibits and visitor spaces

• Ensuring the cleanliness of the Museum’s public areas

• Assisting with set-up, operation of, and occasional facilitation of children’s birthday parties, events, public programs and community events

• Excellent communication skills, with an ability to engage with both adult caregivers and children

Qualifications:

• Experience working on a team

• Strong interpersonal skills: helpful, calm, friendly demeanor

• Positive work-ethic, professional attitude, and willingness to learn Visitors Experience Associate

• Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks

• Ability to adapt to different and changing environments (large crowds/small crowds)

• Flexibly solving problems • Accurate keyboarding, data entry, cash register and cash handling skills

• Good safety awareness and judgment and ability to assist visitors in emergent situations

• CPR/AED/First Aid certified is a plus

• Experience working with children and a commitment to children’s learning through play

Availability: Part-time (15 hours/week); Must have availability on Weekends. Additional shifts available Tuesday-Friday. Available shift times can vary 9:30AM – 6:30PM with occasional evening.
